Working on wood boxes, in three-dimensions, is very different from working on a two-dimensional piece of paper. A plywood surface is raw with texture and depth and inevitably is challenging for the artist. In any case, working on wood brings a unique character to the final art piece. Still working in collage comes easily to me no matter what the surface.
And as with some of my other collage pieces these also have a free and looser vibe, and the movement is palpable (especially in “Royal Head Space”). Although these pieces were made in the Fall of 2025, I have a feeling that it’s just the beginning of a larger collection yet to come.
