These pieces are from one of my earliest collections. The idea stemmed from the frustration I experienced seeing the proliferation of conceptual art, what I deemed “idea art”. In this series I’m playing with sarcasm and humor using symbols and text that have little or no meaning with a wink and nod that art can be anything, made from anything, and in some cases have little or no meaning at all.
When asked what a particular piece means, I sometimes struggle to answer that question. My art is visceral and intuitive and comes from little or no planning. It’s more of a physical act than an intentional creation. And although I started this series years ago, I still feel the same – I can make art out of anything and it can mean nothing at all.
