Megasomething was my first intentional (painted) series, conceived as group, and with lose plan in mind — these painted works hypothetically as a large structure. This first came to me during a 6 week architecture boot camp I attended at Columbia University in the summer of 2008. This piece started things off and set the visual tone of the entire grouping. Ideally, I would love these pieces to be recreated even larger, perhaps printed 2 or 3 times their 40” height.

At the time I used india ink in all my paintings, the black line and saturated colors present to the viewer a loose, energetic feel that avoids strict definition and straight lines. When I painted these works I was feeling a bit disillusioned with the discipline of graphic design (my life long profession) and was seeking artistic freedom in a way that could not be done digitally on the computer.
