I’m a big fan of typography and typographic symbols. I find it genuinely meditative to create these symbols. In fact when I begin a day at the studio and I’m not working on anything in particular that day, I often start by making symbols. The energy and the zone I go into when making these are a kind physical representation of gratitude. It’s calming and with no expectation, I can create anywhere from a few to a few dozen at one sitting.
I’ve been asked what they mean, or what do they represent? I really don’t know, but I have fun with that answer and I tell people that maybe I’m channeling something alien, or perhaps it’s a message from another time, or a previous life. In reality it’s none of those, but it’s fun to imagine.
